What happened in P&A:
The Weatherford MOST tool was successfully used in rotary mode. The tool was dressed such that the SPP dropped with the 30″ almost cut (680 lpm/107 bar). Flowrate was then increased to maintain SPP as planned. The cutting torque then went flat, suggesting the 30″ was cut and the cement was holding the stumps. Instead of stopping the pumps and rotary and attempting to pull free, full cutting parameters were maintained and the string tension increased in 5 MT increments from 85-100 mt. The string came free 40 mins after starting this process.

What Was Planned

Cut wellhead with MOST tool

What Was Learned

This technique might have minimized the risk of the 18 3/4″ HP housing snap ring coming free as it has on previous wellhead cutting jobs.

What Actions Are Required

Evaluate to include this procedure in cutting DOP.
